Gravity Colon Hygiene

Welcome! We are based in Boulder, Colorado and offer Woods Gravity Method colonics, nutritional consultations and coaching, and other health and wellness information to clients.

I am certified in the Woods Gravity Method of colon hygiene. This is the original method used by Dr. Robert Woods and Dr. Norman Walker. This method allows for a simultaneous in/out flow, meaning water enters and exits at the same time. No machines, motors, or pumps are used. You won’t become dependent on colonics using this method because we gently awaken the bowels to do what they are meant to do, which is release. I have a beautiful treatment room and use disposable speculums and triple filtered UV water.

I have also trained with Natalia Rose, a NYC-based nutritionist and author of several books on detoxing with raw food. Additionally, I am a graduate of the professional chef’s training program at the Natural Gourmet Cooking School, a health supportive cooking school in NYC. Given this, I am also available to develop customized transition diets, providing additional support as needed, such as cooking classes and food preparation instruction, menu planning, and, of course, delicious recipes!

Benefits of Colon Irrigation

Colonics may offer relief from a variety of disturbances by cleansing the colon of impacted and putrefactive fecal matter.  Fatigue, gas, headaches, irritability, skin problems, cold hands and feet, lethargy are among the problems people have found relieved by colon cleansing. Constipation, of course, is another as well as chronic diarrhea. Your sense of well-being is often dramatically improved with colon irrigations. You feel lighter, more energetic.  The body can again assimilate food in the colon and better defend itself against disease. Natural peristalsis, tone and regularity are restored and many serious diseases may be averted through this gentle, sterile, scientific technique. Colonics are a key factor in restoration of the body’s natural balance or what we call vibrant health.

Overview of Different Methods

Essentially, methods of colon irrigation can be classified as either gravity or pressure. Machines using pressure are by far the most popular. There are also a handful of centers in the Denver area using open gravity systems, which, although gravity, are still very different than the Woods Gravity Method.

I prefer the Woods Gravity Method not only because it employs gravity and is a closed system, but also because it allows therapists to be more intuitive with how they work with the body moment-to-moment during a session. Therapists are present the whole time guiding you through the experience while gently massaging the abdominal area to maximize the effectiveness of the treatment. Overall, I believe this allows skilled therapists to create a more comfortable and thorough treatment than is possible using other methods.

More on the Woods Gravity Method

With gravity-centered colonics, the results are dramatic but the process is not traumatic. Gravity-centered colonics allow for the simultaneous intake and exit of water throughout the treatment. This prevents water retention and discomfort, especially for those with weak intestinal tracts. The simultaneous exit of water guarantees an effective, calm, and healing experience. Most people’s reluctance to try a colonic comes from the fear of large quantities of water entering the body. Gravity-centered colonics based on the Woods Gravity Method create a release that is always twice as strong as the intake. Pay attention to your body during the process and you’ll realize you’re much more aware of what’s leaving than what’s entering. As mentioned above, your therapist is present throughout the entire process, utilizing abdominal massage during the treatment. The importance of a transitional diet to cleanse the body properly is strongly emphasized.

Dietary Principles

The human body thrives on foods which promote blood alkalinity—foods which leave an alkaline residue in the body as opposed to an acidic residue. This is different than the actual pH of a food. For example, lemons are acidic outside the body but leave an alkaline residue inside the body. Dairy, on the other hand, is alkaline outside the body, but leaves an acidic residue inside the body. Alkaline forming foods include all raw fruits and vegetables and their juices. These foods serve to “awaken” accumulated poisons and toxic waste in the body in order for it to be eliminated from the body.

While I am a proponent of eating a diet high in alkaline forming foods, the importance of a transitional diet cannot be underestimated.  Intelligent Detox is about supporting clients based on their past and current eating and lifestyle habits. I will suggest ways to get the junk out, finding acceptable, real food substitutes for comfort and favorite foods. Then, I will suggest ways to increase the amount of alkaline foods at a pace determined by individual circumstances and goals. Any lifestyle changes made shouldn’t feel restrictive, and the results can be amazing.

Colonics, which gently and effectively remove “awakened” old poisons, then become a way to achieve much greater levels of health and well being than diet alone can accomplish.
